Nature Morte au livre, which was also painted in 1913, is another good example of Juan Gris' dedication to the avant-garde movement. It is also called "Hommage to Max Jacob" who was a leader of the movement and a close friend of the artist. One can clearly see his name in the painting itself. The original painting was bequeathed to National Museum of Modern Art in Paris by Louise and Michel Leiris. ed. 1000.
